Providing a range of co-curricular opportunities is important to us because we value each child’s individual skills and interests, and we want to give every opportunity for students to grow and further their potential.
As a Catholic school, Holy Spirit Catholic College Lakemba offers programs that educate students in an holistic manner. Opportunities for the spiritual, intellectual and social development of students are made available for every student.
Musical Ensembles
The ensemble’s repertoire features a wide range of musical genres, allowing students to learn diverse styles and techniques. Participating in the ensemble builds students’ confidence, teamwork, and discipline while also providing a chance to perform in front of an audience.
Vocal Ensembles
Led by a dedicated and passionate music teacher, the group focuses on building skills in vocal technique and collaborative performance. The ensemble regularly performs at school events, competitions, and concerts, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their talents and perform with their peers.
Dance
We have many dance groups, including Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Folk. Students have the opportunity to perform at school assemblies, showcase evenings, and other events.
Chess
The chess program at our school is an excellent way for students to develop their critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is run by experienced coaches and offers opportunities for friendly tournaments and competitions with other schools.
Art
Visual Arts students have the opportunity to have their artworks displayed in the Sister Bernice Gallery. Visual arts students have the opportunity to work on these artworks after school during Art Club with the guidance of experienced and talented art teachers.
Drama
Students can take part in Drama Club where they develop skills in performance, acting, and improvisation. Students also have the opportunity to audition for an annual drama production, showcase, and SCS Eisteddfod.
Sport
The college is a member of the CBSA (Boys) and SCC (Girls) Sport Associations. All students have the opportunity to trial for representative teams in these associations across a wide variety of sports, such as Athletics, Aussie Rules, Baseball, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Cross-Country, Dance, Football, Golf, Netball, Rugby League & Union, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball.
Debating and Public Speaking
Holy Spirit Catholic College places a high value on the skills of Public Speaking and Debating, in particular, to build the self confidence and speaking ability our students. We encourage all our students to participate in Debating and Public Speaking.
