Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.

At Holy Spirit Catholic College Lakemba, St Mary of the Cross Mackillop’s motto ‘never see a need without doing something about it’ informs our everyday lives. Our students are constantly motivated to take a community approach when taking on initiatives promoting respect and responsibility.

Students have the opportunity to put their teachings into practice through outreach initiatives such as: participation in Caritas’ Project Compassion fundraising, St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal and Christmas Hamper Appeal, working with the Sisters of St Joseph on social justice initiatives such as the House of Welcome and engaging in community relationship building projects including Harmony Day.

Outreach is a central to the development of our Year 12 students and our staff.  As such, spirituality days for Year 12 and staff include a whole day dedicated to outreach.
